Antique Black Scale
Antique black metal Columbia Family Scale which can weigh up to 24 pounds. It still works! It has a wonderful timeworn patina and rust in all the right places which makes it so very charming. Scales were a staple in the farmhouse kitchen in the early 1900s and while this one has aged, the name, numbers and other details are still nicely visible. The wording on the face reads “Columbia Family Scale – 24 pounds by ozs. Pat’d April 16 07 – Landers, Frary & Clark – New Britain, Conn. U.S.A.
Both sides have a small, now faded design which we tried to capture in one of the pictures. The top square is black like the rest of the scale and can still be used for weighing although we cannot attest to its accuracy. It’s a perfect chippy, rusty, black piece to add to a collection or anchor an all white décor.
The scale’s height is approximately 8 1/2 inches. The front face diameter is 6 inches across. The top of the scale is approximately 5 ½ inches square.
