Vintage Bobbins - Sauquoit Mills
3 vintage bobbins – two of which were formerly used in the Sauquoit Mill in Scranton Pennsylvania to produce silks and other fine cloth. Sauquoit was one of the largest silk mills in Pennsylvania in the early 1900s. The third bobbin is from Dunean Mills for which we have been unable to find information.
The center pieces are wood and the end pieces are a muted vintage red. Two of the bobbins have the words Sauquoit – Scranton , Lestershire with the patent number embossed on both of the end discs. The third says Dunean Mills on one disc and the markings 6-36 Lestershire with the patent number on the other end disc.
These bobbins make a great statement by themselves or combined with other vintage pieces in a seasonal grouping. They can also be used to wrap up your own ribbons, lace, wool or twine.
