Large White Antique Ironstone Pitcher
This is a rare find - a beautiful, large antique ironstone pitcher with the classic rope detail on the top of and on either side of the handle making it simple, yet elegant. Ironstone pitchers were found in almost every farmhouse or French country kitchen sitting on tables, shelves, counters, in display cabinets or as part of a collection.
This gorgeous and shapely beauty features a crest on the base with what appears to be a crown, lion and unicorn. It reads "Imperial Ironstone China - Cockson & Seddon" which dates it to 1875 - 1877. It would be a lovely addition to any ironstone collection, pair it with other whites or let it shine on its own being the lovely antique treasure that it is.
It is in near perfect condition and still has a bright glossy finish, however, being that this piece is well over 100 years old there is some faint crazing and a few very tiny marks in the glaze which we tried to capture in the pictures. There are no cracks, chips or staining and it still has the ability to hold liquids. It's just gorgeous!
The pitcher measures 12 inches tall to the top of the spout, its top opening is approximately 5 1/2 inches across and it sits on a 4 1/2 inch round base.
