Antique Child-size Shoe Lasts
Antique child’s shoe forms also known as lasts. Cobblers used these to create a pair of shoes – a dying art. This little pair is just so sweet with wonderful patina and you can just picture the little shoes that might have come from these forms. The lasts themselves are really a work of art.
These are an unusual high-top form made of solid hard wood. There is so much detail and certain symbols that most likely only the cobbler understood. The number 2 is stamped into the wood on top of the last. There are also 5 inverted triangles on the toe of one of the lasts and the letters EE are stamped on both. There is a ring of metal around a hole on the very top of each form which measures about a 1/2" across. There is writing in another language that is difficult to decipher but we are thinking it might be Italian. They are in very nice antique condition with wear as might be expected.
Wonderful for a child’s nursery, as part of a vintage shelf display or to add to a collection.
The length of each last is 5 inches. The width at the widest point is 2 ½ inches and they stand approximately 3 inches tall.
